Help with tranny flush!!

Alright, guys, I've got an 89 GT and it's all stock, and the tranny needs to be flushed. I've never done it before but I've got an instruction manual that shows me that it's pretty easy. I'm hoping it is. Anyway, how exactly do I go about it?? Do I need to take the whole pan off and replace the gasket, or can I just pull a plug and let it drain that way?? Also, if I do replace the gasket, do I need to put some silicon glue on it??

Also, just need to know which kind of transmission fluid to buy, and how much exactly I should put in there. Just some things I don't know that I know you guys would. Thanks!!

flushing it just by draining is almost point less, expecially if you dont change the filter. The fluid released from just dropping the pan or the plug is only about a 1/3 of what the transmission holds.

What you should do is this:

Drain all the fluid via the drain plug.
Drop the pan
Unbolt the filter and replace
the new filter will come with a pan gasket, use it, a little silicone never hurt either
put everything back together, fill it up, should take 3-4 quarts i believe, use pretty much whatever Dextron III fluid you can find, it wont matter
Take it to a shop, and have them completly flush the transmission. they use a machine that actually removes ALL the fluid and flushes out all the crap that can get built up. Then they refill the whole thing with fresh fluid.

And as an extra percaution, go grab an external Transmission cooler. They arent that expensive, less than $50, and instal that. the A140 transmission you have isnt exactly known for its reliablity, and nothing kills a tranny faster than excess heat.
