leaking gas?

i noticed that i seemed to be using up gas a little quicker then usual and that i could smell the scent of gasoline from my car. its a 1990celicaGT and i reached down and sure enough there was some gas on the outside of the tank...i couldnt tell where it was coming from but it seemed to be coming from somewhere above the tank..could it be a fuel pump problem?

i dont think you have a fuel pump problem. sounds to me like you have a hole in your tank, hole in a fuel line, or a faulty gasket somewhere. i would put it on a rack and check it out. dripping fuel and hot exhaust or hot brakes dont mix!!!!!!

check under your back seat...your fuel pump is right there....you'll see if you have a leak there..
