why can't i find a turbo or supercharger kit for my newly purchased 95' gt convertible. any help would be greatly appreciated. need new way to break my neck
exactly!!!
Your only other option is to Turbo the 5sfe which basically takes all the turbo equipment off the 3sgte and bolts to your current motor.
(obviously not as simple as just that)
have you heard anything goo about the burien kit....it cost 2,500 but only gives you 190hp
but still cheaper than a engine swap....don't want to race just want the cool psssssst bov
heres a thought- if you're not pushing enough boost, then you'll hardly hear the bov. and the 5sfe can't handle very much, but the swap can handle double
im going to stick with everyone else DO THE SWAP!!! look on ebay!!!!! ALMOST HALF OF THAT TURBO KIT!!!!! the 5sfe engine isnt built for boost, unless you want to go slow and break down alot DO THE SWAP just make sure you get the ecu and wiring with it!!! your stock tranz will bolt up to the motor easy swap!!!!
well the 5sfe crank is very strong... so that part does well in swaps, but new pistons and rods are in order if you plan on running more than 7psi. sure it can handle small amounts of boost, but what's the point, you need at least 10 to get anywhere. once you get into that 12-15 range, you start moving towards whiplash territory(provided your wheels hold), which is a hell of alot of fun, and your efforts start to really pay off.
ive turboed a 5s in a camry, and id say do the swap. like they say, the engine will bolt right to your tranny, and the engine fits. there is a ton of custom work involved with putting a turbo on a 5s the 3sgte manifold is the ONLY thing that fits without something custom.
im still debating on what to do on my celica. i was going to turbo it...but ive got the 1mz waiting too. im thinking it might actually get fitted in. i dunno though. im still debating
