Greetings Earthlings!
I'm getting ready to close on a 2001 Celica GTS with 93,000 miles, and I'm wondering if I should be concerned about the mileage or not. The car seems to have been well kept, and according to CARFAX, it has never been wrecked. I also wanted to know when the timing belt needed to be changed. Any other info would be appreciated.
Oh, it's loaded with 93k miles for $11k; good deal or not? Thanks fellas.
Welcome to TN! you my friend are in the wrong forum (Corolla) I'll move you to the Celica forum.
That's a lot of miles for a car that age. ...but toyotas do last forever ...and given the amount of miles vs the age, the previous owner prolly did a bit of long distance hwy commuting which isn't bad.

Thanks. Other than the mileage the car is pristine. The engine seems to be in good shape and I've found very few problems cosmetically. Even the leather seats are in good shape. I'm hoping that this is a good decision because I passed up on a Red GT with 63k miles for this.
I'd say.. look at the price that other 2001s are going for.. chances are they got at least half the mileage of that car.. then make him an offer based on the higher mileage.. for example, if a 2001 with 40-45,000 miles is going for about $15,000 offer him $11,000 because he's already taken 5yrs out of the life you could have drove that car.
its a 6speed and not an auto right? auto GTS's are about the slowest cars out there because of the horrible 4 speed gearing. if your ever thinking about a different GTS i would stay away from 2002, because that year has a lower rev limiter (7800) instead of 8300 like the '00, '01, and '03s (i have no idea what the 04's and 05's are like).
I ended up getting the car for $10,995, which I don't think is too bad. It's the 6 speed manual transmission. Judging by what other Celica GTS's are going for, I think I'm coming out pretty good.
My next question is, when do I need to change the timing belt?
Wow, I just found a 2001 celica GT, manual transmission for 8,000. The guy says he just HAS to get rid of it because he can't afford it. its got 90,000+ miles on it right now, and is in great condition! Hmmm... I think I may go for it now. What do you all think?

I've been wanting a celica since 2000!
That guy got so screwed. A Toyota can sell for way more than that. You should get it. Celicas are great cars.
