what engine does the 1988 celica GTS HAVE??

I know the GT has the 3sfe.

the 1988 GT-S has the 3S-GE, which has a wider head and belt driven cams

also, a lot less parts available for it

the 3S-GE has more power and torque, because of the characteristics of the head design. It was in the GT-S from 87-89, and MAYBE 86, but I am not sure about 1986.

3S-GE (2.0L) got moreHP and 5S-FE (2.2L) got more torque.

86 GT-S sported the 3sge also. Where did this influx of 4th Gen Celicas GT-S' come from?

There are LOTS of parts available. Don't let these non 3SG guys talk like that.

the first front wheel drive celica body came with a 3sge in the gts car only, the gt had a 3sfe, it had the large intake port head and tvis on the intake, the second fwd body came with the 5sfe in both the gt and gts
