look it depends on the current condition of the paintwork. if the paint is cracked, and the cracks go all the way down through the primer then the car needs to be taken down to bare metal before repainting. very few places do a bare metal respray apart from when they are preparing showcars - that would cost about 5,000 upwards over here. For 2500 i guess you are just going to get him to paint over the existing paint. that can be ok, but you have to remember that the final quality of finish depends on the substrate - so the best paint in the world will still fuck up if your old paint cracks from underneath. a really good paint job can cost 1,000 - 2,000 for materials only. check exactly what kind of surface prep you are getting for your money, that is the most time consuming part. i have mates who did spray painting in the same class as me at tech and they used to do $600 resprays! for that you get minimal surface prep and enamel paint! It still looks ok if you are fixing up a crappy old car to sell it or something.

$2500 should include painting all inside and around doors and hatch/trunk.
