I have 92 Celica ST (st180) with 4afe 1.6L And want to swap it with - 5sfe from 92 Celica GT (st184).I have the complete car & engine (GT). What will i have to do to make it possible.
Well, first of all, you will need the braket (passenger side) that holds the motor mound from a gts and weld it on the same exact place the gts has it. Then YOu will also need all gts motor mounts. After that you will need the engine of course and the gts tranny as well. You will also need the gts computer, and have someone to wire it, gts axles, and last but not least, you will need the two front brake assembly so the axles can fit.(now you will have the 5 lug conversion) Therefore, your looking into spending some cash. You probably are better off to getingt a gts cuz its the easier way to go and it will save you cash as well. I would go 3sgte on the st cuz its lighter and youll get heads turning from the gts;s trying to punk you.
remember that the ST isnt designed for a motor over 150hp. you should be carful what motor you decide to put in. even if it is the 4a-gze you may want to consider some reinforcing in the engine compartment and make sure you choose the right tranz.
where can i find a -4agze- that will come with computer, wire harness and correct tranny
www.venus-auto.com tell them that Dr Tweak from Phoenix Tuning sent you. And you don't need to reinforce the engine bay at all. A brake upgrade is always a good idea (use stock GT or GTS parts). And you can also swap in the 3SGTE but it's more work.
You will need to cut the bracket that holds the gts motor mount in place from the passenger side. Then after cutting it off the gts, you will need to place it in the same exact place on the st) as the gts had it. (it will be best to check if their both in the same place) Then you will need a welder to weld the motor mound bracket to your body. After this, you will need to use the motor mounts from the gts. Wiring it won't be to hard, you will just take off the wire harness and ecu from the st and replace it with the gts. Its just plug and play. Oh, you wiil also need to use the gts gear linkages. One more thing a problem you might encounter is that you might have to convert the st into a 5 lug so the axles fit right in. The exhaust well, use the gts because im pretty sure it fits.
