It is a job ad on this forum and I want a good mechanic. Wouldn't you, if you've never done something like this? I'm willing to learn as indicated from my original post.
mechanics dont like "assistance" from some one who doesnt know what the hell they are doing.
you wanna learn? grab a friend and a good set of tools and start doing it yourself. cars really arent as hard as they look, its all very logical and with a little common sence, and a repair manual, a lot can be done on your own.

good lord guy, no wonder you cant get it done, a good mechanic will do it at his shop with out you being within 5 miles of the place
I would like to be involved and learn from the mechanic. I've not done something like this and there may be particulars that make the job easier that an experienced mechanic may know. What's wrong with learning this way?
Unless you're willing to pay him by the hour to learn, he'll just get it done as fast as possible so he can work on next customer. You can watch and learn only if you know him for a long time.

I know a few things from my previous career as a civilian and Air Force aircraft mechanic. I just don't want to screw anything up - that's all. Mistakes cost money and time.
Yes, I want to learn and you know as well as I that vehicles don't necessarily follow logic, common sense or the repair manual.
