Question 6th gen engine swaps....im not tryin to make it a GT4

hey, im new to this forum so idk really whats goin on exactly so any help would be good help and also im basically a retart when it comes to cars so yea....i have a 94 celica and i wanna take out the stock engine and swap it for something faster... ive done some research and as far as i know the only thing ive heard of being possible is the 3sgte swap but i heard of the all trac one and the MR2 one....if i swaped it with the MR2 engine would i have to do all the crap with making it RWD? are there any other engine swaps that i can do w.o having to get a whole new engine harness, ECU and all that? please help me out....thanks

Engine got nothing to do with RWD or FWD.
You'll need ECU and wiring harness for the 3S-GTE. How could your stock ECU know how to control an engine with turbo? Unless you go full stand alone.

i think im gettin it

I get what ur sayin...i think, like i said be4 im kinda retarted when it comes to cars so bare with me if i sound stupid... so the MR2 3s-gte engine and trans should just drop/bolt in to my 94 celica? and as for the wiring harness and ECU they both come with the engine so i should be good? is there anything else i should make sure is comming with the engine/trans that is usually over looked or any important information about swapin the engine that i should know? and as for the "unless u go stand alone" what exactly do u mean? again thanks for the help...

You'll need axle to connect wheel to the MR2 tranny. I don't know which one works.
Stand alone -> aftermarket ECU like PowerFC, emanage etc.

it also depends which celica do you have.. st, gt or gts

and yes it's better to get a clip because it will most likely have everything you need so you don't ahve to scavenge for it. you'll have to look for importers to get a clip... or you might find one on ebay or something

the 3sgte will bolt right up to your stock tranny so why not just use that. you might want to upgrade it for the extra power but it will work. this swap is alot of work so if you dont know alot about cars you might want to be careful this site will be helpful http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=306748.

ok so ive been lookin through the stickies and looking through this and aother forums....so just to make myself 100% sure cause i mean this is a HUGE project to take up .....if i get an MR2 3sgte engine it will indeed just drop/bolt into my 94 celica and it should all hook up correctly? AND i dont have to make my celica RWD or AWD? and i shouldnt have a problem with using my stock tranny? i do have another question (sry i dont mean to bombard u guys with em but u kno) the MR2 tranny i understand it was like reversed or something to make it RWD? does that mean i could just flip it round to make it front wheel cause my stock tranny has 130k miles on it do u think thats too much?
thanks again guys

it's easier to work with if u get the ST 185 instead of the mr2 clip.

the st185 is more direct drop than the mr2, just cause the setup of the mr2 different cause the original engine is moutned in a different place, different drive train.

it's pointless to get the mr2 clip if you're not looking at the mr2t with a lsd tranny, but then again, you will have to make a hybrid and mix and match parts.

very very few have completed a RWD conversion, let alone a AWD.

it depends if you have the ST or the GT ... if you have the GT the 3sgte engine bolts right in but if you have the ST you have to buy engine mounts for it... also if you have the ST the engines that bolts right it in for are the 4age and 4agze engines
