desperately in need of help!

I have an 86 celica GT-S with a 3s-ge engine in it, and earlier this week i developed a bad oil leak and it was too late to undo the damage that was done... i pulled the oil pan, took off a rod bearing and did the "penny test" to the crankshaft and there was copper left on the shaft, so it's screwed.. there's this local junkyard around here that has engines on sale this week for 60 dollars, but when i went up today to scout it out i couldnt find any 3s-ge engines.. i found alot of 3s-fe ones though.. my question is this, is it possible to use a 3s-fe block on my head/intake? or to mount the t-vis intake onto a whole 3s-fe engine? unfortunately my funds are currently limited so i can only really work with parts from the junkyard with the obvious exception of gaskets and things like that, so a rebuild or a 3s-ge engine for 400 dollars off of ebay is out of the question.. any information on these engines and what i could do is greatly appreciated.

do a search, but all 3s blocks are the same and the exhaust port pattern is the same on both heads, the fe motor is the economy version of the 3s series and the f head has to go with the f internals and manifolds, and g head with g internals and manifolds the g internals are much stronger, you can swap heads, but you have to match the internals and manifolds with the right head

ok i just found out some information, but i dont know if it's good or bad.. apparently i cannot bolt up a 3sfe block to my 3sge head/components, but what i need to know is this... can i fit 3sge pistons into a 3sfe block and make it work that way? and if i can, is that the only problem i have to worry about.. it would cost like 200 dollars for a crankshaft for this thing and with the price of used engines out there it's looking like i might end up letting the thing set until i can just get an engine for it instead.. it would be nice if i could find a used 3sge block with all of the internals since that's all i need, but i think that most people are usually looking to sell the whole engine. here is the info that i found out, from it i can tell that i probably cannot use this block on my head..

Although the block appears identical, the bolt pattern is definitely the same, the heads have a different configuration. In the 3SFE, the combustion chamber is partially in the piston crown, whereas in the 3SGE, the pistons are flat topped with valve reliefs, and the combustion chamber is totally in the head. This would prevent the fitting of a 3SGE (higher flowing) head onto a 3SFE block, without changing the pistons. The compression ratio would be too low to be satisfactory, and would counteract any gains in flow. It is not known if a compression increase in a 3SFE could be achieved by using 3SGE pistons. The resulting compression gain might be too high to run on readily obtainable fuels. The piston pin fitting is different, also.
The cambelt crankshaft pulley tooth pitch has been checked and is the same on the 3SGE & 3SFE, but different on the 2s engine.
The 3SFE and 3SGE crank/rods are different, despite the same stroke. The 3SGE piston pins are fully floating, whereas the 3SFE are press fit.
The actual block on both engines appears to be identical, and therefore interchangeable.

Piston configuration is different between F and G heads
compression ratio will be unknown, potential valve interference
the timing components for the G head are different

just need a crank?

if you just need a crankshaft, you could probably find one cheap, and if you can't, I have a spare engine in my shed that I could send it out for the cost of shipping, as it is doing me no good in my shed.

I just like to see more celica's on the road!

let me know at jfarquhar@finning.ca if you really want it!
