I'm not sure as I've never had any experience with an older Celica, however they're known to be heavy (I think?) But I'm sure if you can get your hands on an All-track, you'll have no problems (and tons of fun!)
Im going to try to find a AWD one but they are rare and if i do i hope it will be cheap. My last winter beater was a Toyota Celica Supra but i killed it and had to scrap it,it was the best winter car for me fun to drive.
Hey Ben! Wassup! I was looking for a winter beater too after getting a fresh coat of paint on the Cam. But it's probably not gonna happen due to "serious financial constraints." Anyhow, when I was looking, the older Celica GTS was one of the cars I was looking at. The other one was the Corolla GTS/SR5. Check http://www.autonet.ca and http://www.autotrader.ca for listings. Hope to see you at the meet on the 14th.

i think the old All-Trac Gen2's would make a great winter beater. The 2wd version dominates on ice and snow, and they sit like trucks, so i imagine a 4wd version would do just as well, and with out the pain in the ass that a GT4 would be!
