4th Generation Noob to imports..please help

Hey y'all. I tried to do a search on this but didn't come up with much. My sisters 89 Celica GT has a bad ignitor according to her mechanic. Being from a carbuerated Chevy past I have no clue about computer controled motors. That being said...how accurate do I need to be with the year and numbers on the ignitor when I go to the junk yard to find one? I know the motor is a 3sfe because I changed the valve cover gasket a few months ago if it helps. Thanks for any help.

I'll say a Camry one might work. Take your bad one with you to make sure it'll plug in. Check to see if the Celica have internal or external coil. Pick the ignitor from car with same setup. Worse case try one from a 5S-FE (2200, 2.2L) equiped Camry or Celica.

How important are the numbers on the front of the ignitor?
