Help! lost H2O/pump and overheated engine

94 celica ST 1.8l/auto

This morning I heard a sqealing from one of my drive belts as i got close to work. I knew the belt was fairly new so I just thought it was minor.
I got to work and parked it for the day, Then as I was leaving at the end of the day it started sqeeling again. I not really knowing better just started to drive home. Then after about 20 miles I get a loud rattling(probably valves) then loss of power, and finally dies as I'm getting to the side of the road. My engine was cooking!!needle pegged.
I know now that i lost tension on the drive belt and lost my water pump thus overheating but now after she's cool it crancks fast(low compression) and has a bit of motor oil seaping from the timing belt cover.
What my best bet on a repair for my celica w/192k miles???
Should i try to check the head gasket or just try to get a swap out motor from Japan?

BTW I just put over $300.00 in new half shafts and wheel bearings/hubs, and before that timing belts water pump.

no one replied because it was an obious solution, you answered your own question.

you've described an engine that is beat to shit, leaking oil, no compression, knocking noise. Now do you really think a head gasket is going to fix all that?

obvious answer is a new engine. If you can find one put it in. if not you need a new car, your engine is gone, never will return, over, kaput, dead, pushing up daisies...ect..ect...

If you just recently had a timing belt/water pump service done, then oil most definitely should not be leaking out of the timing covers since both cam and crank seals are replaced when doing that service. And since you mentioned you're sure the water pump gave out, then you should take it back to the repair shop that did the work. Repair shops will warranty their work at least 1 year or 12,000 miles unless otherwise noted on your invoice.

The seals are not automatically replaced. You have to eithe rrequest the change of the seals or approve replacing the seals. I know when I was a tech at Toyota we would always suggest replacing the seals when we were doing a timing belt but a lot of times people would decline it because they didn't want to spend the money. As for the celicas problem. Get your timing belt, tensioner and springs, water pump and all your seals and see what happens with the car now. Since you have a non-interference motor you are probably fine with your internals so just check the belt and everything. You might have a blown head gasket though since you got the car really hot so check your belt and see if that is why you have a lost of compression. If the belt is fine then you probably have a blown head gasket. In which case take the head off and have a machine shop check the head for warpage and cracks. If that is all fine then you will be fine with replacing the headgasket and go ahead and replace the timing belt and all that good stuff and you should be fine.

True that.
But I have never had anyone declined replacing the seals once I've recommended them
Maybe bec. I only charge for parts and .5 labor since I'm cheap like that.

Yeah you probably don't charge as much as Toyota dealerships do. Although we only got an extra 5 tics for the seals if we did the timing belt but that is because we already have the belt and stuff off but I am sure they charge the cusomter another hour of labor which just for labor would be about 80 bucks an hour plus parts although parts would only be about 6 bucks for the two seals.

It was the idler pully that went out causing the waterpump to stop working, all belts and water pump where replaced at 187k miles but obviously not the tensioner pully.
I'm getting some conflicting stuff here so to clerify. The car ran great before the overheating, It got 33mpg everytime i filled up. and ran fine, I ruined my car because i didnt realize the waterpump was driven by the belt that i KNEW was slipping.

When it quit running i heard engine noise then loss of power then quit running as i was pulling over, I know this:

1. blown radiator
2. leaking fluid(looks like oil) from around timing belt cover. maybe head?
3. cranks fast but donst even attemp to start.

I pulled the plugs and tried clearing the chambers but no water came out.

Is there still hope for pulling the head and having it milled?????
