Hesitation when taking off

I have an 01 celica gt auto, and when I take off at a slow speed with the accelerator pedal lightly pressed, the car hesitates very badly and then finally takes off. I had a short ram air intake on it before, and that never happened. It just started happening recently when I installed my factory air box. I was looking inside the box, and noticing what looked to be some sort of flapper mechanism, and an actuator that opens it? Could that have anything to do with my problem, and what else could it be?

celica gt probleme/answer

hey there.Im a toyota tech,i see that happenning quite a lot with the corolla with have the same engine .The mass air flow sensor in your intake is likely to do such a thing, and a m.a.f does'nt make your engine light come on and gives you an hesitation at take of and will get worst in time.Worn out spark plugs could be a probleme too but im pretty sure you checked that out already(first thing to do).the new sensor is about 250 dollars (can).I can't tell you for sure but i can tell you it is not a rare probleme on these modele.

Give news about it if you fell like it
