I have found the way the remove it. Simply cut the speed governor wire that goes to the ECU, and that's it. You can go as fast as the RPM let you go, that means 6500 RPM in my celica GT 87.
i have a 91 GT and it limits at 195, which cable should i try and cut to make this work? i am so excited about this quick fix i already have the wire cutters out... lol
Cutting the wire works. you should not see any thing go hay-wire in the ECU. And. . .I'm pretty sure that from 86 on, limiters are involved on all Celicas that use the TCCS systems.
Even in the US. From mid 86 to 89 the wire happens to be a pink one.
For those that are curious just do it. If you experience problems re-connect the wire. Just disconnect it from the harness clip at the ECU.
By the way. . .there is a reason Toyota does this stuff and it aint to save gas.

i was of course inquiring for on track testing purposes
Don't missunderstand me, I'm all about mods and tweeks. Just be sure your tranny-clutch and so on is able to take the increase in heat produced by the speed increase. If you are tracking your car I'm sure you know what your tranny can take. It would just suck to blow something if it was not worth the risk in the first place.
It is not that the engine can't take it in most cases, the tranny and say the clutch plates may not be rated to take the max potential of the motor.
