Which Generation?

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a Celica and can't decide which generation to get. I would like my car to run low 14's to high 13's (Eventually, I don't expect it to be anywhere near that fast stock.) without having to performan an engine swap. Which do you think would be the easiest one? I heard that a 7th Gen GTS would be the easiest. Is this true? Also, if I don't get a GTS but end up getting a 7th Gen GT, what would be necessary to get it to run these times? One more thing, would an engine swap be necessary to hit these numbers in the 4th-6th Generations?

Thank you!

Like I answer you in the other post, if you don't feel comfy with swapping the engine, a 7th GTS can do low 14s with Apexi Power FC, exhaust, intake etc.. To have the GT run those time, you will have to turbo it. The cost of turbo is about ~$3k-$4k. Engine swap (or turbo) is necessary for 4th, 5th and 6th gen to run high 13s, unless you buy an Alltrac. In an Alltrac, you can upgrade the turbo, and other supporting mods and you sure can hit 13s.

Sweet. Thanks. Also, I know that some cars don't like boost, if this is going to be my daily driver and I boost it, will it still be reliable enough to be my daily driver?

Which one? The turbo 7th GT and turbo 5th and 6th gen can be a daily driver. You can set it to run low boost for street. People tend to run less than 7 psi on turbo 5SFE . If you plan to swap 3sgte engine in 5th or 6th gen, you don't need to worry about it at all. It can take 12 psi safely.

Yeah, I'm looking at 7th Generations right now. Since it'll be fine for a daily driver I think I'll turbo it. Anyways, how much will I probably be looking at to get it to run reliably?

IMO the 7th gen isn't worth what u pay for it... If u want a turbo celica go with an all trac... u gotta love the car to have one, but if u do u wont wanna go back
