Gen5 New to toyota

All right guys. I'm new to toyotas and i've got some questions. I'm picking up a 92 celica gt next week. I wanna know what kind of potential these cars have. Hp numbers quarter mile times, handling qualities, pros cons, anything you can think of along the lines of aftermarket support, and performance abilities. I'd also like to know about some body mods. I used to have a 95 civic ex coupe and plan on getting an 06 civic si soon but would like to tinker with the celica for a little bit before. I like to keep the body mods clean ala lip kits and no gwady body kits that look crazy. Thanks for all the help.

They handle very well. I love the way my 5th gen handles.

The 5sfe is definately an economy motor, however there are guys that turbocharge them... and one guy just over 200 whp on the stock bottom end.

You can always swap a 3sgte into them too

I love everything about them, and without going into great detail, I couldn't tell you everything about the motor. They're very stout, very torque, lots of fun.

As far as body modifications, there are a ton of kits out there. Toyotocelicaonline.com has a guide for those. There is also the CS bumper/hood combo, as well as the Celica Alltrac hood that will fit, those are very nice looking as well.

Lemme know if you have any more questions.

Colin

if i rememberd correctly, the stock 5sfe has 130hp...

depending on which model of the H brand u have...

but i would say that the celica shd be much faster.

It was the ex model (d16z6). My car kept up with my friend's rsx type s til he hit fourth gear then he slowly pulled. Just intake on the my car. This cars respond pretty well to basic mods or is it just best to swap the motor to the 3sgte and just leave it alone. I'm not looking to make a huge amount of power i just wanna be able to run with the three billion scion tcs and civics around here.

The 3SGTE also comes from the Celica Alltrac. I would say it'll be about as fast as your civic.. horsepower wise. It'll feel a lot faster because it actually makes torque.

Depending on which supra you are talking about, there are some things that will fit the car. For instance, the Supra N/A injectors will work really well if you're going to boost the car. The turbo manifold/turbo/oil plan/map sensor will all fit, once again a benefit if you're going to turbo the car.

If it were my car, I would keep the 5sfe and boost it. There's a guy making upwards of 200 whp on the stock head/block running a CT27 (ATS racing turbo... it's good, but it's still a small upgrade), some larger injectors (450's I believe), an SAFC with everything done right..

and here's the kicker... he's having some ignition problems, and according to his torque and rpm, he should be making close to 240 whp on a stock engine!

Lemme know if you have any more questions about the 5sfte.

umm civic vs celica, my friend had a 95 civic ex and i have a 93 celica gts.. and we ran it 4 times.. he misshift once. and i beat him 2 of the 3 because i first was being stupid on the race i lost.. he got me everytime on the launch and first.. but my second gained on him and my third took him.. could be driving.. but me and him are at about the same level so i think the celica can or atleast should take it, but it was real close tho bout half a car

oh yeah and we were both all stock except intake and exhaust

okay sorry one more question.......would supra brakes fit this car or would it probably just be easier to put calipers from the alltrac on the car? The rotors are the same size on the gt as on the alltrac right or did i research wrong?
