Question Worth It?

I've found a 1990 Celica All Trac for sale for $5000 w/ 121k miles on the ticker. According to the guy that's selling it, he's installed an HKS turbo timer, Greddy blow-off valve, and an ACT clutch, as well as changing the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs (Denso iridiums), radiator, thermostat, and water hose. The only problem is that he says the car still overheats occationally. What are your views on this? Blown/leaking headgasket? Is $5k worth it for this car? Here are the pics he sent me:

I would for sure do a compression test first to make sure it's not a headgasket. Overheating could be a number of things.

Check the condition of the radiator. It's going to be difficult, but it would be everything from air in the system, a bad tstat, a bad radiater fan, or worse... the head gasket. Bring a compresion test with you when you look at it.
