how long will an AUTOMATIC TRANNY last for???

how long will an AUTOMATIC TRANNY last for???

I am thinking about purchasing a 1990 Celica GTS with 380,000kms. The car is in very good condition, but I am worried that the tranny may die soon, since it is the original tranny!

Thanks for your help.

It all depends of how the car was treated and if the tranny was flushed at the proper times. Its hard to tell and i doubt anyone will come out and say i abused the tranny.

It depends..... If someone has some raunchy shifting habbits automatic will last longer. Generally Manuals will last longer.

The tranny can be rebuilt for about 800 bucks pulled and everything which I don't think is all that bad. Manual trans may last longer but you also have to remember the clutches don't last forever either. I would talk him down a little saying you may need the trans rebuilt and see what he will say
