I'm Trying To Help A Friend By Letting Him Use My Old Van It Had A Bad Head Gasket And As He Was Changing It He Arched Off The Altenator Now When You Turn The Key You Get Nothing So We Jumped The Starter And It Runs But You Have To Turn It Off With The Key And Its Not Charging But The Altenator Tested Good And We Put A New Battery On It

Check on the large fusible links in the relay box. They have amperage ratings on the top of each one and the higher rated ones have to be unbolted from the bottom of the relay box.(take off the lower cover) These usually blow during a short circuit and are relatively inexpensive.
