Any word on if/when the Matrix is getting a redesign?

Not that I know of, considering that Toyota changes its design at what seems to be every 2 years (so many Gen X.5's it's not even funny)

Canada Matrix changes.

Corolla will be new from the ground up in 07....same engine/platform as Matrix and is made on the same line. It'll be new too...

None.

When I bought my 2005, the 2006 was still hush hush.

Matrix history:
2003
2004
2005
2006

So this is the 4th production year. If they change the model, its normally after 6 years (or after 2008). Recall that setting up for a new production run is quite expensitive.

Canada Corolla/Matrix

Yeah the new corolla is not due out untill january 2008 and most likly the same for the matrix since they are built on the same assembly line. They were originaly due for a full model change in 2007 but because they are selling soo well they decided to push the new model back about 6 months.

I like the current model, but if I could ask for one thing, it would be

- bigger motor with more torque -

I think the 2.4L from the Camry would make it a sweet runner.

Isn't the Corolla being pushed back to the usual 5 years and thus 2008 CY? If so, yeah we can expect the Matrix to come out around then too. I think a nice 2.0 litre engine would suffice. You know, dual VVT-i, direct injection... that'll get the power up.
