Clicking noise from steering wheel

We are getting a clicking noise from the steering wheel when we return it to center. It seems to only do it when the steering is under stress. Say going around a curve. And only to the left. Anyone have any ideas? Hoping it is not a serious problem, like a steering rack and pinion.

The shop said they couldn't find anything. Naturaly they couldn't reproduce the problem. Said if it is doing it, bring it right back. Good thing was they didn't charge anything.
