Screechy rear wiper

I've noticed in the past few months that no matter how wet my rear windshield is, my rear wiper will be very screechy when I turn it on. If I keep it on intermittent, the screechiness keeps going. If I put it on the higher speed, the screechiness eventually wears off. DH first thought that it was because he had recently waxed the car, but that was quite a while ago. I wouldn't think that it should still do that.

I have an '05 XR, and it has just over 14K miles on it. And it's been fairly dry since summer, so I haven't used the wipers much. Surely it doesn't already need to be replaced as little as I've used it. The front ones, which I've used more, are just fine. I've checked to make sure the blade is on there properly, and it seems to be.

Anyone else have this problem? And if so, any way to remedy it?

Dry heat, sunlight and non-use will kill wipers faster then regular use. You need to replace it. The Rubber has dried out and the wiper is no longer flexing like it should.

Go to your local dealer and give them part # 85214-12310. Thats for just the rubber insert and list price is #2.40. A good dealer will install it for you at no charge.
