Fuel filter anyone?

I did the 30k service on my wife's 04 Matrix and no one has a fuel filter listed as a part. The dealer wasn't any help either, they are a bunch of stupid fucks. Is this replaceable just the filter or is the sending unit and the filter all one piece?

Thanks guys...

There is a fuel filter on the pump assembly in the gas tank, and I don't see any other reference to a fuel filter in the repair manual on a quick glance.

The filter part # is 23300 - 0A020. List price is approx. $35.00

It is located on the pump assy in the tank and looks like a small transmission filter. You will obviously have to pull the rear seat and pull the pump assy to put this on. There are no recommended factory service intervals, but I have it on good authority that it should last a good 100K miles.

It's a fairly substantial job, not to mention the hazards inherent in opening up your fuel tank while inside the car.

Good luck.

I Agree with Clamhead, it will last a long long time.

But if want to remove it then:
Remove rear seat cushion (two bolts where seat meets carpet)
You will then notice a big rubber seal (taped on the edges). It needs to pulled back
Remove two electrical connectors above fuel pump
Remove gas and vent pipes
8 bolts secure the fuel pump to the gas tank. Remove them.
Take fuel pump out and keep digging into to it to find filter cartridge.

I got 170 000 Km on my 2000 corolla and I never replaced the fuel filter yet. I have inquired about it at the dealership, they stated it is a non-replacement item and the only time that the fuel filter should be replaced is when you replace your fuel pump. They also stated that it should be replaced only if you are experiencing driveability problems ....yada....yada...yada. If i were you i wouldn't worry about yet.

I have 107304 muiles on my 2003 corolla. It hasn't needed a fuel filter yet but I am considering replacing it soon because the car seems to be running not as smooth as it once did.
