Check engine light @ 64000KM

Hey guys,

I own a 2004 Matrix XR. The other when i started her up in the morning, the check engine light came on!!! The car was running find.

This morning, the light didn't pop up. I was wondering if it was just a reminder to do my 64 K service.

If it's not, do you think i should bring the car in to have a scan of the computer?

Thanks

I wonder if it's just a loose gas cap. Tighten it a few clicks. If the CEL does not come back on and the car feels fine I wouldn't bother getting it checked.

Eitherway the error code will remain in memory. So have one of your buddies scan and clear the fault code for you. Canadian tire does have the OBDII readers on sale from time to time, hence it may be cheaper to buy it rather than going to the dealer and have them charge you for the diagnostic fee and code reading.

it could be a number of things
you need to pull the DTC first before
you go assuming what it could be.

I just went through a check engine light on our 2003 xrs. Took it to our local dealer and the check was a thermostat. I had it replaced and all is ok so far, heats alot better.
