Thumbs up New Personal Best Gas Mileage!

Today I squeezed out 667.0Km from 1 tank of gas in the Matrix!! My new personal best. I blew my previous best (564.7Km) right out of the water!!! The only reason that I stopped was that it was the closest Shell and I wanted to add to my Airmiles, the Trix never stuttered, sputtered or hickuped!!

What makes it interesting is that when I went to fill up the pump stopped @ 49.9xx L but I rounded it up to to $45.50 which afterwards read that I had pumped in 50.277L I thought that I had a 50L tank!

KICKA$$ Mileage!!!

I've only hit 600km+ once. During a trip to Syracuse.

That's a little over 31 MPG for the metrically challenged.
(667 km / 50.277) l * (0.621 m / km) * (3.78 l / g)
My longest tank was 435 miles on 10.589 gallons (700 km, 40 l) for just over 41 MPG. This is my typical fuel economy in summer on my UNusual commute: 12 miles at 35-45 MPH on uncrowded back roads with maybe 6 stops. Fuel economy is worse in winter due to the fact that a colder engine burns more fuel until it warms up -- I got 32 MPG my first winter without a garage. My second and third winters, with a garage, it only dipped to about 35 because the car was not starting out so cold in the mornings!

I've actually gotten 43+ MPG three times driving 300 miles round trip on state highways from eastern MA to central VT. All three trips were in summer with A/C, just myself in the car, speed was 50-60 MPH. I was careful not to exceed 60 MPH, as I was trying for good fuel economy, and it worked!

I drive 450-600kms/day! in maxx

In the winter here in Western Canada I get 43mpg. In the summer I get generally no less than 45mpg. I am happy with the car.

Ah, dressy stuff on the TRD... (:

Don't forget to factor in the difference between Imperial and US miles/gallon...

gas mileage

i applaud you on the mileage but, honestly i would not go under a quarter of a tank. the reasons are three fold. the fuel pump uses the gas to cool itself when working. when you reach the botom of the tank tou are sucking all the crap from the botom of the tank. (i know because i change fuel filters all the time and you shold see the crap that comes out.) and because of condensation in the winter time it plays havoc w/ your fuel system.

How old are these cars that you're changing fuel filters from and what cars are they?

fuel filters

i work for a ford dealership. the interval between fuel filter is usually 15k. some of the gas that ive seen coming from the filter is like chocolate milk. ( it depends on the station.) granted after its been filtered its clean, but still i wouldent want that crap getting into the injectors. dave

Do you guys drive mostly on Highways to get this high milelage?
I'm nowhere near that, but I drive City 85% of the time.

I can probably get 500KM from city driving if I really want to go to the last drop.
