My condolences on your RSX. I read about it in the General forum. Sux.

Initially, when I ordered mine in May/02 I was expected to take delivery the next month, in June. Well after that I'm sure you've heard about how Toyota was unexpectedly overwhelmed w/ sales and couldn't keep up w/ production. So, delivery was pushed to July and finally picked it up mid-August. 3 months of waiting!

Those who ordered in the summer were expected to pick theirs up by December/Jan.03. Some have waited up to 6 months. I'm sure the wait now has died down.

I think those who have waited the longest were XRS orders, simply. Colour, I don't believe was too much a factor.

I guess Toyota expects you to pay pretty close to what you work out when you "Price Your Toyota" in their website. I managed to get deducted $600 off the $24540 MSRP and out-the-door came to $29K and change.

If you're not in a rush, I'd wait for the 2004s. I hear yellow is a new choice.

Thanks for the input!... Though I really do like the Matrix I'm wondering if I can get one within like 1-2 months. Insurance is probably going to make me return the Mini within a week or two after I settle with them on the value of the RSX.

It's not a huge rush as I have friends who are willing to lend me their cars to drive (one of which is another RSX :-? ) But at the same time I don't want to be borrowing a car forever.

Anyways wish me luck! Car shopping begins later today.

Dealers outside of the GTA may be your best bet for a quick turnaround. Or call to see if any are sitting in their lots.

Hey,

If you feel like coming to Pennsylvania, I can sell you a XRS for $1000 off list. My delaership that I work at has 3 of them. Two silvers w/ factory 17's, (no SR) and a cosmic blue with a SR and 16's. List on them is around $21K-ish maybe a little less.

No Canadian in their right mind would ever by a current, brand new car in the States.
Your (U.S.) prices for a majority of all makes and models are marked up to Hootenanny!

With currency conversion, us Canadians can pay $19xxx USD in TOTAL w/ taxes, out the door!

Look at the Protege5, for example. Check our MSRP and look at the US MSRP. Do some currency conversion and see who's getting jacked real good.

Hmmmm...
well, I just bought an XRS this weekend. Was looking at a Red one they had on the lot, but sold it. Then they had a black one *my personal favorite* with the same options *6 disc, carpet mats, Toyo Package*. The asking price for that type was 20,410. But We talked him down to 18,500. Overall I think that was a fair price. Here in the South they tack on an extra 500 charge that goes towards who knows what.

Dont know what percentage rates you can get..but I believe there is a 500 dollar rebate on the Matrix now. Funny thing is...all the while we were dealing with Toyota they never seemed to have an idea of what the percentage rates would be the next day..or even what their past cars sold at! It was always....we need to do this today. Well, the day my car arrived was the day the rebates started..so we tried to get that deal as well. They claim to have known about the rebate the whole time and inclusded it in the price *suuuure*...funny how that information they know..but nothing else....

good luck!!

Here in PA there's no rebate on a Matrix because they're still selling very well, but the demand had slowed a bit. There for a while we couldn't keep an XRS in stock for 24hrs. Now, they sit around for a few days. Here we have 1.9%/36mo., 2.9%/48mo, 3.9%/60mo for Tier 1 Credit and 7.9%/60mo. for Tier 3 credit.

According to the previous post, people should be flocking to Canada to buy a Matrix. Well, large portions of them are made there. How's pricing on a Matrix near Fremont, CA where the rest of them come from along w/ Corollas? Any different?

actually they are all made in the same plant that Toyota built out west and they share it with GM who I'm sure you all sells the knock off version of the matrix the vibe. they gave toyota the cavalier which toyota exports to japan as one their own.

GM and Toyota has been swapping parts and compents since the late 90's

It took me 3 weeks to get my 04 XRS built and shipped to the dealer, I paid 29,800 with both taxes and "B" package, (sunroof, 6 disc etc). I purchased mine in Niagara Falls, ON, great dealer and love the new Phantom Gray!
