I just bought a '06 Matrix XR. When I was test driving it, I only briefly glanced at the factory stereo system and was pleased since it appeared to be a double din system. I want to put an Avic-Z1 in this car, or at least a D2... I really like the factory look as opposed to a flip screen like the N3.
After doing some searches online, I really can't get a clear idea if this is a double din or just a large single din setup. Has anyone had any luck installing one of these systems in their car?
well if you have a laptop you can get one that will work with it. Just plug it into your power outlet on the car (laptop). Or you can get a handheld one. If you have a best buy, comp usa, or frys electronics you can look there as well. If you dont you can go to their web site and look if you can ship to london.
I do have those stores nearby, and I actually own a laptop with GPS capability.
My thing is, I really want a double din nav system for the clean look, iPod/sat radio connectivity, etc. Just want to make sure that it will fit before I order!

Wow, that Palm system is really nice looking. Took them long enough to get one out in north america! All I could find last year were european ones.
Oh and sorry Toyotaman, I wasn't too clear. My laptop itself isn't gps capable, but I've got MS Streets and Trips with the USB GPS receiver... it works really well, but tons of wires hanging everywhere
