Lift controller and Camcom VVT-I unit

I am somewhat of a newb when it comes to car electronics, so i have a few questions.

I have been reading the forums of lift controllers and the Camcom VVT-I unit which allows more power output at lower RPM's by lifting the valves earlier and more aggressive at lower RPMs by adjusting the settings. After reading numerous threads, I am pretty skeptical about this entire setup because I dont know much about car electronics. Throughout the threads I read, people kept on mentioning that the Camcom will get overridden by the ECU b/c they are like a SAFC. I have no idea what that means..and how the A/F ratios will get overridden after 2 weeks. Does anyone know if that holds to be true, if the settings are permanent I will be more then willing to buy one. Another thing that i have a question about is a lift controller, I tried browsing online and came up with nothing. This whole arena of auto tuning is absolutely foreign to me but I understand how it would significantly alter the engine dynamics. I will greatly appreciate it if I can get some advice. Thanks

The only lift controller on the market is the Hydra EMS -- which is $bling$.

The Camcon is a very good unit for controlling the VVT-i portion, however you will need to get some dyno tuning with a/f in order to make it effective. I have seen a few people get 10-12whp power (in lift) with a well-tuned Camcon. Not bad for 300 bucks, The settings in it are more-or-less permanent -- they override the ECU, but they can be changed, and can't just magically disappear (maybe with a fluke hardware malfunction?). There is an on/off switch, which enables the computer to return to it's regular settings when the Camcon is "off".

i read that thread, the concept makes sense, i just dont get what this a/f and the other thing is all about. im a little hesitent to drop 300 bucks because its a piggy back unit and ive heard some bad stuff about piggy back units, but at the same time i want to control my lift at low rpm so i can have a larger power band.

Canada

the cancom Is awesome .....the A/F is air fuel ratio that they are talking about is because the the maping of the regular computer wont compensate for the cam going into lift at 5500 rpm ......so you us ethe camcon to uverride the stock Air fuel ratios so the car doesnt lean out too much and damage the Engine .........It works ( the lift controler) I have been in Nolats car a few times ( and Yes No CEL) they want to dyno prove that its worth opening it at 5500 or 5600 before releasing it to the people that want it...

Thanks for the useful information. So i understand a lift controller is much better then something like a camcom, do you know when they will release that and how much it would be?
