Canada New XRS Owner

Hi everyone...

I am new to this forum and I was wondering if you could help me with a somewhat urgent question...I am about to pick up my new Matrix XRS tomorrow and I was wondering what the specific differences are between the standard in dash 6 disc changer that the XRS comes with and the silver AM/FM/MP3 Single Disc Green display player that is available? I am not a big fan of disc changers...but I was wondering if the Silver single disc has more wattage , features etc...I guess I am asking if it is a better model than the one that my XRS comes with...Any help and opinions would be greatly appreciated...Many Thanks!!

As far as I know, ALL stock head units suck as far as wattage goes. You don't like the 6 disc ... ? I like having the changer. Most people do ... *shrug*

Anyway, the only downside I've found to the single disc one is that some of them (depending on the year) have no ability to add a line-in. The 6-disc on the other hand -- you can buy a part made by P.I.E. (part number TOY03-AUX) which will allow you to rig up your ipod, mp3 player, xm, etc to the stock h/u. There is a TOY-AUX which is for *some* single disc players, but I couldnt tell ya which.

The Matrix gets an MP3 player? that's cool ... as far as I know, it's not offered in the Corolla. *poot*

Suggestion: Get the one that has higher resale (the 6-disc), sell it off, and get a new h/u. Alpine or something yummy like that.

It is not an mp3 player. It is mp3 interface. My friend got a 2006 black Corolla XRS with the optional mp3 interface (iPod) for $300. He can play all playlists from his iPod on the stock stereo and shuffle through songs. The iPod sits in the glove box.

My XRS has an ok 6 way speaker system. XR and XRS models of 2003 seem to have the same type of speaker systems and quality no difference. Get a single CD player and go for the MP3 player in it. CD's are going out of fashion anyway, its a waste of money.
