Canada Brake pedal loose?

Just got my 2006 Matrix (no abs) on Wednesday and took it on its first big trip over the weekend. About halfway through the drive up I noticed a fair bit of side to side motion in the brake pedal of around 1cm or 1/2" (whichever you work in) each way. The car stops fine but I am worried that the linkage is loose where it shouldn't be.

I have never had a car that does that and I was wondering if anyone else had that problem before. It is obviously still under warranty so I am going to take it to the dealer to have them look at it but if they are all like that then I guess it is just a poor design.

thanks,

Brian

After I first bought mine I noticed this too. Brought it in and they brought another corolla in to show me. It was the same thing. Its like that for a reason, nothing to worry about.

thanks for the reply. Good to hear that i am not the only one. Still not a great way to design the car but if that is how it is then...
