xrs discontinued and replaced?

today i was browsing the toyota website out of bordem at work, and i noticed that the xrs no longer existed on the website the corolla or matrix xrs were no more and toyota was introducing some new matrix called the M Theory, and it was just basically an Xr with some extra cosmetics nothing special. so i was wondering if anyone else knew for sure if this was the possible end of the xrs line of corollas?

The XRS has been discontinued. The Matrix/Corolla as you know it is reaching it's model end. The XRS and the AWD were the slowest sellers and lowest volume Matrix/Corolla. The next generation Matrix (if it will be called that) and Corolla are due in 2008. The 2ZZ engine is dead at Toyota North America. If you want that engine it can still be had in a Lotus Elise.

When I bought my 06 XRS in May the dealership told me that at the time there were only 3 available in Canada...and that there were only 2 planned to be manufactured...so I must of gotten one of the last one's in Canada...I guess I should consider myself lucky!

Long live the XRS. Let's hope they can top it w/ a substitute that's just as fun as the 2ZZ-GE.

thanks to MR. TRDMatrix-Eh by sharing the info regarding the LOTUS ELISE...been wanting to get one and i thought i was going crazy when I found out that XRS and Elise shared the same engine...that's make it even better! the only negative review about it is the comfort after a long drive (but who would take it for a long drive if it's designed to be on track, right?) and the mileage per full tank (it only has 10.9 gal. capacity) Below is the LOTUS ELISE spec...

Can't say "LONG LIVE the XRS" coz' didn't get a chance to own one but I would say...enjoy your XRS while it last

Collectors? I doubt it. But they should certainly have a high level of 'appeal' and resale value when you decide to trade/sell. Maybe I should say 'IF" you decide and not 'when', because from what I've been reading on the forum so far I dont' see too many people dieing to move to another buggy!!!!!

Corolla T Sport was discontinued earlier this year. That is what led me to predict 2ZZ being taken off the line in NA this year as well.

However, Team Toyota Europe (TTE) did make it bow out with a special edition of the Corolla T Sport with the S/C'ed 2ZZ-GE versionw, which was produced in very limited numbers (less than 500).
