Serpentine belt?

I am trying to replace the main drive belt on an 03 XR. I found a pic that shows how to wrench it but it wont budge?

How do you release tension on the pulley to change the belt please?

I have removed the serpentine belt on my pre Toyota cars multiple times and I have had to use a longer wrench that what you are using to get enough leverage. I used a socket on a breaker bar and that seemed to work quite well.

But its to close to the fenderwell to get a socket on it. And because the motor mount is right about it i can hardly get much leverage on it?
Also do i push clockwise or counter on it?

Put a pipe that fits over your wrench and use that as an extension if you need a longer one(be carefull about any slippage)... which way to turn it... I duno... whatever side the belt is on, turn it so it pulls the pulley away from that. I am new to this site and new to Toyota and have not actually looked at belt so I duno which way that would be. We just bought our 06 Matrix XR (stick) this spring... so far its been a very good car.
