Idling Vibrations

Hi how do you guys rate your engine vibrations when idling at the stop light?

Is it enough to bother you? i.e. vibration felt on the steering wheel/seats.

Or is it not supposed to idle at all? I just suddenly felt this may be an issue but i've only got 14,000 Kilometres on my 2005 Base Automatic. Hmm...

tire feathering could be causing the vibarations - new struts and shocks replacement can be the remedy. Recently I also noticed a shudder even I was just carefully travelling at 55mph, probably not the drivetrain but the engine that's causing it.

Thanks Chester but my idling issue is when I'm stopped, not while cruising

check your MAF - probably needs to be cleaned - I had the same problem - finally cleaned and the rough idle went away - car feels as smooth as when I 1st bought it.

MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor. Here's a link to a PDF file that has a pretty good explanation of what it is and how it works. I've seen this type of issue before with other vehicles I've had and like the other post after cleaning the MAF the problem went away.

Hope this helps! Good Luck.

after cleaning the MAF you should feel a more responsive throttle & better gas mileage - not a lot but a little helps.
Hope this solves your idling problem @ the stop light.

try this http://matrixowners.com/forums/-t27838.html

read the top of page 1 - there are pictures
& read the top of page 4 - there is a 9 step porcess - explained in simple terms.
this should answer your questions about how to clean the MAF.

ur welcome - a little warning though do not use the brake cleaner - may make the plastic parts brittle over time.
if there is no MAF cleaner @ autozone - use the electronic parts cleaner. same company crc - just make SURE that it does NOT leave any residue and that it is quick drying.
I learned this info. and more @ http://www.matrixowners.com/ - some of the people in here are long time members there.
please check it out & make some new friends.

your welcome - one time use of the brake cleaner is fine - just make sure that after about $10k miles - when it is time to clean the MAF again - use the MAF cleaner or electronic parts cleaner.
