05 AWD XR Impressions (After 3 Weeks)

I still can't stop smiling when I drive this car. Seeing it in a parking lot with the alloy wheels and the jet black finish, just gleams fun. Recently took a trip to upstate NY from CT and got an avg. 33mpg, yes this is an AWD model. I have been averaging 280 a tank since with a 45-1hr plus commute each way to work everyday.

The storage is just incredible, I cannot put enough stuff in this car. The Civic I owner previously had a large trunk for it's size but it could not fit larger items due to the small opening, flipping the backseat proved to be annoying for this. Pop the hatch and toss in. I just went golfing the other day with my father and put the seats down in literally two seconds, popped the bags in and off we went. What a great thing. Best part, when we got to the course it was raining a bit, but with the hatch popped, we sat on the edge nice and dry while we switched shoes and got ready! What an awesome thing.

Sure it might be slower than my Civic was, but I needed something to keep me tame, lol. It's not the slowest car on the road, and once up to speed it accelerates fine to pass someone or head up a hill. I am amazed that when going uphill on the highway it does not need a downshift very often and simply holds the speed with a little more throttle input.

So the fuel efficiency is great if not better than my modified Civic was, the power is fine for what I do, and the space is beyond abundant.

The interior fit and finish is impeccable, my father event comments on it all the time, how comfortable the seats are "like sitting in my living room" he says. Or how nice the material is. The gauges are just awesome to look at and easy to read and use.

The 6 disc CD changer provides ample sound for my liking. Maybe at some point I might switch the speakers, but thats about it. No rattles or distorted sound and finally unlike my Civic, the AM radio actually pickups Imus in the morning so I can listen on the way to work! Not to mention the Yankees games.

I take 2 to 3 looks at it whenever I walk away, lol.

My only gripe is I wish they made a FULL NOSE MASK to cover the whole bumper as well, not just the hood, and also that the auto lights could be shut off. I might do that DRL bypass very soon.

I have had mine since the end of may, must say I feel the same as you.
I love the darn car, have just over 4500 miles and been averaging 30 mpgs regularly.

I had thought about the nose mask but decided to go with the Venture shield, it was expensive but it covers the whole front end from rocks and dings without changing the apperance.

Love the seats and everything else, just a great little car
