Canada Plugs - 120000mile (192000km) maintenance interval. - Really????

I was browsing through the threads and noted this in one of them. Is this for real? Are these plugs standard on all Matrix models or just the SRS?

Yup, XRS is indeed what I meant. Thanks for looking that up for me. Now for the big question - has anyone actually gone this long without changing their plugs??

And for our American friend - 192,000kms is roughly 120,000 miles

Traditional spark plugs, were changed every two years. However Iridium spark plugs are said to be long lasting.

Keep in mind they are $$$.

Hey, given we may be driving about 25,000kms per year in this vehicle then based on the 192,000km change interval the car will be around 7.5 years old when they are due to be done. God knows if I'll have the vehicle by then so it seems to me that no matter what the price they will have been paid for.

I remember that one of the big features of the Ford Contour was its lenghty time between 'tune up' - somewhere around 120,000kms. But that was a total mess as many of the owners found that the spark plugs had almost fused into place into their heads, making the replacement more costly$$$ (then again it is a FORD). One only hopes that Toyota has ironed that type of thing out!

exactly stevenspc. I've heard too many stories of plugs fusing to the head, or the electrodes completly erroded away. I dont care how good iridium is, or how expensive. I aint waiting 120K miles to change mine.
