Matrix is farster than a xB. But the Matrix takes 9 secs to 60 and the xB i s even worse
Get an XRS and boost it if you are so bent on speed and getting one of the two cars. Better yet get a Celica GT-S or an SRT-4 if it dosent have to be a Toyota.

The Matrix XRS is the fastest of the group, only comes in 6-speed manual with 17" wheels. The base and XR come in auto with either 15" caps or 16" wheels (optional) and also optional lip kit/side skirts/fog lamps. All standard on the XRS. The base and XR are 130hp, unless you get the AWD like mine 123 because of the AWD system. I guess you could say I have the dog in the group but to me the difference in a XR and XR AWD is negligible.

Many people say that the XRS drives no faster than the base and XR until you hit lift and it takes off. I could understand this since the higher revving 2zz gets most its power at about 6k.

Anyways, the XRS has the Celica GT-S motor in it, i.e. 180hp 2zz as mentioned, not the 1zz in the other models.

On another note, I love my Matrix, it is def. slower than my 02 Civic EX two door 5-speed but for what I sacrificed in speed I gained in roominess, comfort, cargo, and AWD! And please don't get the Xb, nice car but not my thing. Way way to boxy and they are very very slow. I'm sure I could even take one with my AWD XR.

Besides, how can you not go for a Matrix, just look at how hot it looks.

My 2005 XR AWD, fogs, lip kit, side skirts, 16" alloys, 6 disc in dash CD
