Yes, but that is a gain that only works for the xrs, it will work with the xr but not as effective because of the standard cams.
You have no idea how frustrated I am man. I have 10 grand that I have saved up from when I came back from Iraq that I was going to completely dump into my car. The Hass turbo kit, trd big brake kit, sway bars, strut bar and a coilover kit. It would have been awesome! But my wife is pregnant, so I gotta save that money for my kid. I would not do an engine swap, unless you have the money. Ironically if you do an engine swap, the engine is the least of your worries. You have to worry about a different transmission, which means different axles lengths, which on a fwd car could end up leading to a fully custom front suspension. If I were you I would just go with the turbo kit. Even that doesnt mean you have to buy a kit. You could just find a used/rebuilt turbo and intercooler and find a shop that will let you bend your own pipe and do your own welding to save you money. Even though I had the money to pay people to do it, I would still do as much as I can myself.
Once I get my degrees I plan on throwing a 2jz-gte engine the back of my matrix and turning it into a rwd toyota matrix with 600 hp. I want it to be sleeper too. I figure I could put the fuel cell up front where the engine normally is. I figure I could make it in the shape of a triangle from the side of the vehicle so when air comes in through the grill, itll ramp up the fuel cell and increase down force up front. Then I could just keep the radiator up front as usual. Then do side intake for the engine and make it look like an overexaggerated body kit so people think its just an underpowered ricer with a body kit. I figure since a 2jz-gte has twin turbos i could just do two intercoolers on each side to each turbo. Then vent the air directly out of the very middle of the back of the car to decrease the drag, since the rear of the car cause air to hold onto the rear when it passes behind the car. Considering I can get a 2jz-gte engine with less than 40,000 miles on it. I could just do my own welding and do it cheaper than 10,000 probably if got a lot of help from car shops. But then again, my kids more important
