Hey all, I've been thinking for a while about getting new wheels for my XR. I don't want to lower the car at all but kinda want to fill up the wheel well a bit more. I'm thinking about 18's but was wondering if anyone knew from experience what size rim and tire combo you need to not be rubbing the tire on your car when you turn. Any and all advice is great! Thanks!
I have 18"Focals,withp245/50sNangkangs on them,but I also have a 2"Eibach drop.
havent had any problems with them rubbing or scraping with a load in the back.
If you dont have a drop and add 18" on your car it will fit but also raise the ride height also.
With the drop, don't you need to get new struts as well? What did it run you? I'm pretty new to working on cars, but I know the end of a wrench pretty well. Aside from a spring compressor, what else would I need to lower my ride? Thanx
There's no escaping the huge wheel gap in the Matrix regardless of how big wheels you go. Lowering suspension does the trick. You won't have any probs w/ rubbing if you upsize and don't lower the car.
well,I took the trix to a shop to have it done, cost was about 250.00+the all wheel
balance and alignment. didnt have to get any struts, yet.but will will soon need to.I have had
the springs on for about 3 years now ,so its time for some new struts.as for the srings or
coilovers, theres lots to choose from.I have Eibach prosprings,if Iam not mistaken they are the same as the TRD ones.before I lowered the trix it was like driving a mini-van,swaying and all.when you do it you will be suprised at the handling.
nice ride R@bbit..
ever notice when you come up to another trix, that hasnt been lowered and been like dam thats high, looks like a 4wd.then they look @ your ride and give this damm
thats looks good as hell,lowered... just my 2 $$$$$.
