looking to buy XRS

Hello, I have been looking into getting myself a 6spd Matrix XRS, not to familiar with the 2ZZ engine and drive train, wanted to know if they have any issues or things to look for in a used one. I have heard there were problems with input shaft bearings on the tranny is that true? if so could someone fill me in on the details of it.

I own an 2003 XRS with lower suspension, CAI and all the stuff you may want. By my 3 years experience with the car, I can say it is ok. On some web site there are reports of clutch issues which prematuraly burn out way before its time. Mine is fine for now. ( the clutch is actualy from the older Celica GTS model as well as the front braking system and the 2ZZGE engine. The engine is actualy from Yamaha and runs like a charm. Be prepared to rev this baby). I found the brakes become spongy after few minutes of sport driving were I found the need to putting steel lines all over which would solved the problem with the original pads of course. As with all rear disk braking system , and like all toyota's, they wear out fast. The rotors rust fast and after a while you use only about 30 to 40% of the rotors surface. All this happens before 50,000km. Toyota does not seem to have cleared up this 20 years plus issue as I had the same problems with my older '85 Corolla GTS which I ran 4 rear brake sets in 160,000k. Matrix also had some minor issue with the center console box for example which had to be replaced. (See all service bulletins and complaint at www.mycarstats.com). But in general I love the car.
