Question Winter Tires - which do you recommend?

I just recently purchased the 06 Matrix basic 5 speed and will need to install winter tires ASAP!
What do you recommend and which ones should I avoid??

Nokian Hakkapeliitta's. http://www.nokiantyres.com/

A premium winter tire but well worth every cent.

I still have Hakkapeliitta 1's since winter of 03/04 so it's facing its 4th season. I believe the latest Hakka's are the Hakkapeliitta 4's and 5's.

If you've got the base with steelies, here's an idea. Get winters put on those steelies then buy 17" or 18" alloys in the spring! End of story! Canadian Tires Nordic Ice (now made by Goodyear) are probably pretty good too. The old ones made by Michelin were.

Canada Winter Tires

I have a set of Gislaved's NordFrost3 195/65/15, paid $110 Per tire

http://www.conti-online.com/generato...er_nf3_en.html

I was looking for Nokian's but my tire guy said that Nokian had upped their price on their tires and that these (Gilsaved's) are just as good but not as pricey. I found them amazing on the snow and good in the ice. They performed well in the dry and rain as well.
They are made in Sweden and they are also part of Continental tire company.

Either way stick with a well known name brand and u can't really go wrong.
