All Trd?

Hi, a newbie here with an '06 Matrix XR purchased less than 2 months ago. I've been going in and out of this forum for about a month now and haven't came across anyone yet to mention a Matrix with all TRD parts.

I understand other parts such as AEM, Injen, Eibach, Tien, Flowmaster, etc... can probably be found more often and cheaper, or provide more power than TRD parts, but I would like to know if there is someone out there with all TRD parts, and if there is a difference in price and in performance than the other aftermarkets mentioned above?

I guess to help get it started off, my first two topics would be - air intake, and exhaust system or just muffler. but of course i would like to know more about everything.

can someone help me figure this stuff out? I can only pay you in thank you's. sorry.

thanks in advance,
auto

"Big" difference in price for TRD parts, which scares off just about everyone.

Well, of course TRD makes intakes and exhaust for the Matrix - however, like ^ said, the TRD stuff tends to be a little expensive. Check out matrixowners.com for more info than you could possibly want on what intake or exhaust system will give you the best gains, and where to buy them at good prices. Happy hunting.

I've got both the intake and exhaust. Very happy with them both. But, as you will find out very qickly if you decide to start modding your trix, trd is very expensive and will not offer everything you will want. Goood luck on the trix though.

TRD brands are really other aftermarket brands with the TRD symbol. Examples : TRD intake = AEM CAI w/out the dryflow filter TRD exhaust = Borla axle back TRD coilovers = Hotchkis coilovers (I think) TRD sway bars = Hotchkis sway bars plus many others that I cannot remember. There are 2 main differences - Price and the warranty since anything with the TRD name must be warrantied.

thanks exile for your input -

xr2003, i just wanted to know how you figured what you stated in your post. the trd intake is = to aem's, and the exhaust is = borla's. is it the look? performance? i'm sure not the price, but just wanted to know how you came up with those comparisons.
also, wanted to know where your located since your location shows socal 714. i'm in 626, off the 60 freeway. you have any pics of your car with those mods you mentioned above? i'd really like to see some fixed up matrix's but haven't come across any yet.
thanks

no prob. - information provided from matrixowners.com as well as knowing people who work for Toyota. 1st hand knowledge is valuable - as I have been part of the import mods. scene since 1992. Matrixowners.com has tons of valuable information as well as pictures of members rides. You want information about turbo'd Trix or supercharged Trix it's in there. If you want to see car show rides of the Matrix - it's there. Anyway I live in Anaheim, right behind Disneyland. No mods to mention - just TRD drop in (which is bascially a k&n filter with the trd name) snorkel removed for more airflow w/ some dryer air duct ( i know ghetto, being married SEVERELY limits the funds I need to mod.) to direct cooler air to the intake, and the only other modification i have done is disable the drls (daytime running lights). Wife & I bought the car in May 2002 - her car till we got an SUV in 2005 - which of course she drives the new vehicle. Now the Matrix is my main car - and have been saving up to purchase future mods. In fact if you want to see some fixed up Matrices (plural for Matrix) there is a car show @ Penske Toyota in Downey across the street from the Stonewood mall on 11/12/06. There will be members from matrixowners.com & another website - about 30 - 50 cars, with many others for support/attending. It's from 9am - 3pm this Sunday. Free admission & free food. Check it out! Hope to see you there.

yeah i was set to go to the meet in downey with my stock xr. i was going to bring my friend with his corolla, or his 4runner. but i just made a last minute decision to go to vegas that weekend (this weekend) i'm going to drive my matrix across state to sin city with my girlfriend. i can't wait to driver really really ridiculously fast on highway 15. just hope i don't get a speeding ticket. but since i'll be in vegas i hope i make some money to mod the matrix. i made some money at pechanga a couple weeks ago, and bought my gf a new cell phone (not cheap) with still money left over for upcoming x-mas presents.

but thanks for you trd input, i would've really like to have made my car genuine toyota, but my pockets aren't that deep. but i'm not hardcore, so i'll be happy with any upgrade.

if other people have input about trd with pricing or performance, i'd still like to hear about it.
