How much oil for an AWD?

Well changed my oil for the first time yesterday. First time with the Matrix that is. $6 for a Toyota filter, $10 for 5 quarts of Castrol GTX 5-30. I know you can probably find a place to do it for $19 bucks but why pay and not know what your getting. The last time I took my Civic to a place before I sold it, the people there put the plug in and cross threaded it twice! I had like 4 oil changes in an hour, lol, what a joke. At least I know I am doing it right and my way when I do it myself.

Now to the question, I have an 05 AWD of course, and took about 4-4.5 quarts. My Civic only took 3-3.5. Just curious is other AWD owners use about the same amount, less or more? But I would highly reccommend Castrol GTX 5-30, much smoother than Valvoline oil and the car idles a heck of a lot smoother.

I've found that either 1ZZ-FE or 2ZZ-GE uses aproximately 4.5 Liters of oil.

According to toyota you'll see that the 1zz and 2zz uses different oil filters. Seems the toyota filters have gone lighter in construction and I dont think they are no longer made in japan either.

On my 05 XRS I bought a case of Napa Gold filters. They are not that expensive and overall construction is by far better than an OE toyota IMO.

Depending on what civic you owned majority of all of them use 3.5L of oil

On my car I use it as a daily driver and beat on it moderately. I use Castrol syntec 5w30 which is a group 3 hydrocracked mineral oil. It is classified as a synthetic but that is BS. Its really a highly processed mineral oil. Nonetheless its and excellent oil for a 5000 KM oil change interval. If I was abusing the engine hard I'd use redline Ester based group 4 oil without a question other oils I'd consider would be Motul 8100 ester based or Elf excellium PAO based synthetic.
