Tpms ?

How does it work ?

I just rotated my tires and checked the pressure and they were all
very low, Just over 24 PSI in each one.

Would have thought it would have gone off or something with them being that low.
Also my right fromt tire was cupping a little on the inside....could this be from under inflating or the alignment being off. Wouldnt think low pressure would affect one tire only.

the tpms on the matrix is called indirect ..it is based off the abs wheel toner ring, no sensor in the wheel.... so if three wheels are turning fast and not braking the computer will sense that the slower turning wheel has low air But if all tires when low are turning at the same rate the system will not pick it up

the better but more expensive type is the one with band attached to the wheel or the valve stem type but those every few pounds of air low the light will go on and drive you crazy.

Well I personally have never noticed a TPMS light go on when the car starts. I have an 05. But if you look on the left side of your dash below the dimmer you will see a button with the tire and the exclamation point with the word Reset underneath it.

Thanks Chuckles, that makes sense.....
When I did the Tire Rotation I was looking for anything that would have been some sort of sensor,
And I could figure it out.

Check out my picture below of my car. I have a nice little green arrow pointing towards it. Your correct, it is right near the hatch release so

Hatch---VIP Security (if equipped)---TPMS Reset Button.

It is my understanding that it would not be checked upon startup with a light, because it is a passive system, not an active. ABS is active and so are some other things because they are constantly on. But TPMS is triggered so it only activates when needed. And it runs based on the ABS system, not like an Acura where each wheel has a sensor, therefore you can actually see the pressure from each wheel displayed.

Look at the power mirror switch. If you see a button labeled with the symbol: ( ! ) then you have it. Or you can set the key to the on postion. The symbol should come up in this color: ( ! )

how do you know that he doesn't have traction control? I'm wondering because thats what panel looks like in the picture. So I don't have traction control either? and I have a '06 xr.
should the traction control be on that panel where the picture is taken? if so, what does it look like?

i think the VSC (traction control ) should be on the 4th slot.. in whelans case the 4th slot is like a coin holder .. in my case the coin holder is where whelans TPMS is..and the 4th slot is blank...

well, its less thing to worry about...
