Matrix and 4WD

I was heading out to the grocery store today and I was behind a red Toyota Matrix. As I looked at the rear of the car, I noticed a "4WD" badge. I did a double take because I was certain that the Matrix was not made with 4WD. Could my eyes be deceiving me? I saw it on the lower left rear of the vehicle.

Toyota did offer a 4wd system on the base and xr. no xrs. But to my knowledge, it has been discontinued for the 07 lineup.

That's a shame. After I saw that I told my cousin about it and he was going to seriously think about getting one. I just checked the toyota website and noticed that it is only 2WD for both models. That's the one thing that puzzles me about toyota. They refuse to or for a particular model year allow 4WD or AWD on some their small/midsize cars/sedans. That's a huge selling point for me. Living in the NY/NJ area, 4WD is great to have.

I recently purchased a 2006 xr 4wd matrix after hearing from the dealer that there was no 4wd option for the 2007 model year. I also live in the NY/NJ area and love the 4wd. I hear that Toyota will reintroduce a 4wd matrix for the 2008 model year.

I to love my 4WD, I live in CT, near you in NY, NJ so I am psyched for snow as this will be my first winter with the car. So far I love it, its an 05. As far as Im concerned its the best Matrix you can get. The only thing better would have been an automatic AWD XRS, since my gf doesnt want to learn standard and Im not a fan of column style shifters. They did stop making them for 07 and i already knew I wanted a CPO, but they are very hard to find even pre-owned, one because it was a low volume car, but has great resale compared to the other Matrix's, and two because they dont make them anymore they are actually in high demand so dealers get top dollar

I own a 4WD xrs automatic. You loose alot of power with the automatic and 4WD. But I still love the car.

you must mean an AWD XR. There was never an XRS made with 4WD, not from the factory anyways.
