Canada Replacing the windshield

Got to love construction on the 401. Some debris flew up and cracked my windshield. Any recommendations on a good place to go for a replacement (Scarborough, Pickering, Markham area)?

I called my dealer, who brings in an aftermarket person to do the work. They're quoting: $365 for an aftermarket windshield, and $750 for OEM.

BTW, what are those little black dots near the top of the windshield?

$750 OEM is outrageous. Some guys have had it done for around $500. I've got a crack myself and I got quoted for around $500 at Don Valley North Toyota.

The black dots act as a 'visor'.

You should try gettin one replace in Calgary. We are the capital of busted windshields, and getting a break on price here is difficult. The city never uses salt on the roads, just gravel. Deerfoot Trail is absolute hell in spring.

LOL, I bought a car once from Cold Lake Alberta, the body itself was super clean, but the front of the car was totally messed up. ie: both headlights... cracked, windsheild... cracked, sunroof... cracked, and not to mention the bumper and hood looked like someone shot a machine gun the front of the car

As for the replacement, I went to an aftermarket shop, and it cost me $295 (no insurance).

I called Don Valley, and they told me $780 + tax! Yikes, I guess I'll be checking my local Apple or Standard Autoglass.

Ask the shop you go to for pricing on OEM, domestic, Mexican and Chinese glass. All carry different price tags, from most to least expensive, respectively.
