Have they started offering a supercharger for the '06 yet? I thought there was some kind of problem in making it happen due to the switch to the drive by wire throttle.

aye, auto..here's the link to the question that you were asking. go straight to #6 and go from there. eventhough I don't have my trix anymore (replaced it with C230 S/C Coupe) I still lurk around here from time to time.

If you were thinking about going turbo, here's the link to it http://matrixowners.com/forums/I-Need-Help-t60109.html but I don't think it's worth it (if you're in CA.) coz' CHP or Local Cops have their own task force to check mod'ed engine and you will pay a hefty fine
http://matrixowners.com/forums/Turbo...ls-t60119.html

just sharing it with you and good luck

the only thing that i have found was a supercharger from ebay, still new from trd, for 2200. i havent been able to find anything else, all the trd sites i went to either dont list a supercharger, or the site says product coming soon. so i dont know, but i do know they do offer it bc i went to the dealer and they do sell them of the 06 trix. i hope this helps

so i would assume by going by the old posts on the matrixowners.com site that its not really a good idea to supercharge. i'm not a big racer, but i would like to have the power.
my xr '06 automatic is still stock, previous car is a '96 gmc jimmy 180hp supercharged stock, but added k&n intake and borla exhaust supposedly up to 200hp.
it would be nice to be up there again, but in a lighter car that's more manuverable.

can anyone tell me what the mpg is with a added s/c?
but is it still worth getting? is maintenace easy with it?

i ask the dealer that question and he said that it's going to go down to 18 to 20mpg on hwy (not really sure if that info is correct)

what i did is i talked to bunch of guy's, locally, beside the forum and ask them about it. they all, majority of them, have said the same thing as what the forum was saying.

IMHO, i don't think it's worth it especially i use it as a daily driver (100mi. a day). what i did on mine before i drive the 1.8Turbo S3 & sold it was, change the TRD CAI w/ K&N filter & Magnaflow Exhaust....

good luck to your never ending quest for HP

thanks kraker, its cool that you still come in to check on the matrix peeps once and a while.

my gf would probably kill me if i spend about $4k on a s/c that will be cool the first month, but i would probably regret months down the line with supposed problems that can occur.

but i bought the matrix to save gas, which is a huge difference from my suv. i've definitely saved at the pump. about 6 gallons worth.
cai & exhaust it is, probably with headers.

if i were rich with nothing to do, i'd get the s/c, but i make decent money, and i work. gotta save up for a house.

if anyone can still give input, i'd like to read it.
the more you know *******
just like the comercial.

and knowing is half the battle - yo joe!

that's the right attitude
you are right, the more you know, the better and use that knowledge when you are ready and after you save up for the house just like what i did, for the longest time, i've driven a beat up merc. villager van right after i sold my 3 4x4 trucks (97 Sub, 00 Ram Long Bed & 83 Bronco w/ 5" full suspension lift kit) and save enough money to get a house last year and as a reward, i bought my self a new toy (click on the link) *posting this in a humble way*

Believe me, it's worth the wait enjoy the trix while it's still stock but i suggest as your first mod, change the air box to CAI or short ram and change your exhaust, you're lookiing @ probably $500 the most...

i would just like to say that the TRD s/c is a great investment for someone looking for a lil more power! i have it on my 04 Trix 5spd and absolutely love it! the sound that it makes is awesome! the best part about buying TRD is that it is covered by the Toyota warranty! i do have to say though, if you drive with a heavy foot and your RPM's high...lol...your gonna be at the gas station quite a bit!
