Injen cold air

Just thought I'd pass on some info that I've accumulated from personal experience. I have an 07 XR, and I wanted a cold air intake for it. I bought the Injen kit for the 03-04, and it definetely does not bolt in . Seeing as I'm somewhat stubborn, I made it fit, but I thought I'd let everyone know what's entailed. The only real obstacle was that on my 07, I have foglights in the front bumper, exactly where the intake filter would normally fit on an 03-04. What I had to do, was cut about 2 inches off the filter end of the pipe, then add a 90 degree mandrel bent elbow and point it back towards the engine. At that point, I could easily fit my filter on, and I was able to use a Fujita filter that takes up slightly more room (I just prefer Fujita because I like their filter cap design). That was the major problem, but I also had to use a small engine breather filter on the hose that normally runs into the factory intake pipe. Once that all was done it works fine. I know everyone will ask why I didn't buy the cosmo racing intake, and to be stupidly honest, I wanted it to be black, and I kinda like having the Injen logo look at me when I pop the hood. There's nothing wrong with Cosmo, I just wanted what I wanted . Anyway, hope that's helpful to anyone thinking of doing the same as I did. It's not that big of a deal if you know what's going to hold you up and you can prepare in advance. Hope it helps!
