Basic Questions

Recently purchased a 2005 Matrix, standard baseline mode. It does not say XR anywhere on the exterior of the vehicle.

1. Does this have ABS ?
2. Did Yamaha make this engine, or Toyota? How "close" was/is their relationship on the Matrix.
3. How similar is this powertrain to the Corrola, esp. from a reliability stand point?

Thanks.

1. ABS is an option for the base. Best way to figure out is to stomp hard on the brakes under slippery conditions. For obvious reasons, best to do it when no one is around.

2. Yamaha was only involved in the design of the 2ZZ-GE (180hp XRS) engine which originally appeared in the Celica in 2000. I don't believe there was a direct relationship by the time the Matrix surfaced.

3. I would say very similar if not equal to.
