I yanked the panic button out of my remote about a week after getting my 'trix. I had hit it a few times and figured I might as well stop that nonsense before it went on too much longer.

The first time I accidently hit it, it freaked me out. On a serious note though, I would rather accidently hit it and turn it off, then actually need it and not have it.

Had the same experience as Memphis_Matrix. Accidently hit the button. Quite startling when you're in an underground parking lot!

Don't think I'd want to disable it though - never know when it might be necessary.

Regards

It's actually a nice way to find your car if you forgot where you parked it. Especially if it's hiding between a couple of planet killers.

There was a great skit on Mad TV where this woman in a humungoid SUV is talking on her cell phone and hits an old lady with a walker. She drags the old lady for a mile and finally stops for some reason (I think to find out what the "noise" is). When the cop shows up to do the accident interview he asks the woman what model car it is. She says, "oh, it's a 2000 Planet Killer". It may have been "a 2000 Planet Destroyer", but you get the idea. It was pretty funny, in a sad kind of way.

The panic button is so easy to disable, and re-enable later on that I thought it worthwhile to shut mine down. Every time I'd put my keys in my pocket the damned thing would go off. I'm trying to convince my wife to disable hers too, seeing as all the crap in her purse makes it go off.

They could've just mounted them a tiny bit lower, and we wouldn't have this problem.

JUst remove the little rubber cover. That way, the button can still be pushed with your pinky reaching into the square hole, but it won't be setting off accidentally. Best mod I had before getting the remote starter.
